Definition: Self- Discipline is in our everyday life! Think about it! Putting your phone down to finish your homework, going to sleep on time, planning out your day so that you can maximize your hours! Taking a mental health day. Those are all acts of self-discipline. These things allow us to be productive and to take breaks when we need them.

Ways to practice Self-Discipline:

If you want to go to sleep early and get 8 hours of rest, self-discipline allows you to go to bed when you want to watch one more episode.

If you want to wake up at 5 or 6am, Self-Discipline lets you wake up and start your day!

Make a promise to yourself that, I am going to follow through with my routine and wake up at 6am and go to bed at 10pm. Believe that you can, and you WILL!

Saving money! If you're working hard to reach a certain amount of money in your savings account, self-discipline can stop you from spending way too much money!

Say if you are saving for some air pods and you see this new camera. You made a promise to yourself that YOU were going to buy these air pods. You have to follow through and save your money.

Improve your Self-Discipline by doing these things:

-Identify where you can improve- Try to do Self-Reflection Journal prompts to figure out where you can improve! Try prompts like, what do I admire in other people's lives that I do not have? Or What is something that I want to change about myself or my everyday life? For more of these, search Pinterest for self-reflection prompts

-Determine what motivates you- Journal this and meditate on your motives! These are your WHY (why am I doing this) HOW (how will this benefit my life)

-Minimize distractions and temptations- If you need to, put your phone in another room or turn on do not disturb while you study. When planning out your daily routine, schedule 10-minute breaks! These simple acts can change your life and build self-control and discipline

-Create daily goals and plans- Write out what you are doing every day to reach that goal in self-discipline? Plan out your day! Time-Block if you need to!

-Turn these steps into habits- Once these steps are consistent into your daily routine, they will start to become habits! It takes around one month to create a habit so keep going!

Self-Discipline Examples:

-waking up on time

-going to bed on time

-eating healthy

-showing kindness and respect toward others

-meeting your deadlines and turning in work on time

-follow through with your goals and promises to yourself

-Do at least one thing every day to get closer to your goal! Even if it's just one thing, that can truly make a difference and prove to yourself that you are following through and persevering.

-Reading one book chapter daily

-Building new habits!
